How to Enter

Visit Challenge.gov to review the series of five contests in the Haptic Interfaces for Public Safety Challenge. All contestants must participate and be invited to advance through each phase of the Challenge and compete for the final prize awards.

 

Contestants should:

Review the Virtual Reality & Firefighter Navigation Course Scenarios to understand what tasks your proposed haptic interface prototypes must complete.

Visit the FAQ section of this website and submit any questions to the Challenge host at [email protected] .

Visit Challenge.gov and complete the submission requirements for the Concept Paper Contest; Contestants must register and submit concept paper applications on Challenge.gov by May 3rd 5 p.m. E.T.

Submit only one concept paper entry as either a Haptic Provider or the Haptic Development Team.

Phase 01: The Concept Paper Contest

Haptic Providers

The Concept Paper Contest invites all eligible contestants to submit a concept paper outlining their haptic interface products (types of actuators, sensors, software/platform, etc.) that will be available to the Haptic Development Teams, their proposed level of support, services and approach for the up to 3 Haptic Development Teams, with whom they can team for this challenge. Haptic Providers’ concept papers will be reviewed by a panel of subject matter experts; the Judging panel will evaluate and select up to 3 Haptic Providers to be invited to the Challenge Kickoff and Teaming Webinar. Contestants selected by the Judging panel will be eligible to move forward to Phase 02: the Teaming Contest.

Haptic Development Teams

The Concept Paper Contest invites all eligible contestants to submit a concept paper outlining their proposed team’s solution, approach, capabilities, knowledge and skills for this challenge. Haptic Development Teams’ concept papers will be reviewed by a panel of subject matter experts; the Judging panel will evaluate and select up to 9 Haptic Development Teams to be invited to the Challenge Kickoff and Teaming Webinar. Contestants selected by the Judging panel will be eligible to move forward to Phase 02: the Teaming Contest.
